Weceem 0.2 Open Source CMS is released

The second release of Weceem is ready for download at www.weceem.org.

With this release we wanted to stabilize the domain model, move to the Grails plugin infrastructure and improve the UI.

The main developers of this release were Marc Palmer and Viktor Fedorov with additional support from Stephan Albers. Financial support was provided by jCatalog Software AG, Dortmund, Germany.

The most important changes and new features are:

  • Weceem is now available as a Grails Plugin with a corresponding Application
  • Plugin and application source code are available in the Grails source code repository
  • Content repository has been completely reworked and simplified:
    • easy and lightwight UI based on jQuery
    • one access point for all content
    • automatically generated content editors for new content types
  • Status handling to distinguish between draft and published information
  • New URL handling that makes links and link management easier
  • Linking to internal files has been improved
  • New import and export functions for spaces that can handle all content types
  • and much more..

This release is the first release that is easy enough for endusers. 0.2 can be used for small live websites. The Weceem website is updated to the new release, too. Wiki, Forums and Blogs are not ready for production yet. The content model will not change a lot in the next releases. The API is not finished yet, but provides all basic content operations. The tag library makes it easy to create templates that use/reuse the content.

Source code (in the Grails plugin repository), a forum and a ticket system (JIRA) are available, so it's time to get your development started!

Best Regards,
Stephan Albers
